HIGHLAND, CA (June 8, 2013) – Timothy Reyes, of Highland, was killed Saturday, June 8, 2103 in a SUV vs car collision in Corona on the 91 freeway. The accident caused the 91 freeway to be shutdown for almost three hours. Timothy Reyes, 19 years old, was pronounced dead just after 1 p.m.. The accident occurred on the 91 freeway westbound, west of Serfas Club Drive.
Timothy Reyes was a rear passenger in a disabled car that was pulled over on the freeway shoulder. A passing sport utility vehicle turned from the freeway and struck the sedan from the rear. Reyes was reportedly wearing a seatbelt. The car was damaged severly and firefighters used heavy cutting equipment to free him.
Attorney Edmond El Dabe reminds drivers that stopping on the freeway, even on the shoulder, is extremely dangerous and increases the chances of a car accident causing serious injuries. Whenever possible, drivers should attempt to exit the freeway if they are experiencing mechanical problems.
As it stands, the family and next of kin of Timothy Reyes have a claim from wrongful death against the SUV driver that caused the accident. The claim for damages includes the loss of Timothy’s love, comfort, companionship and support.
