SUV Hits and Kills Pedestrian Jorge Altisent near University High School

IRVINE (September 30, 2013) – Jorge Altisent was fatally struck by a car as he was crossing the street in Irvine late Monday afternoon.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at Campus Drive and Paseo Montoya across the street from University High School.  According to witnesses, Altisent was crossing the road when he was struck by an SUV.  He was rushed to University of Irvine Medical Center in Orange but died of his injuries.

The driver of the SUV stayed behind to cooperate with Irvine Police.  Even though there is no marked crosswalk, pedestrians have the right to cross unmarked intersections if deemed safe.

Altisent, a resident of Irvine, was about to celebrate his 79th birthday this coming November.
