Huntington Beach (June 2, 2013) – Susan Stripko has died after being struck by a white Silverado pickup truck near the intersection of Yorktown Avenue and Worchester Lane in Huntington Beach, California. The collision occurred at 12:08 a.m. The driver of the pick up, a 35-year-old man from Huntington Beach, was reportedly sober while he was driving east on Yorktown, approaching Worchester. He struck Susan Stripko as she was crossing the street, according to Huntington Beach Police.
Susan Stripko suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene. She was intermediately transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange where she was later pronounced dead at 12:55 a.m.
This area of Yorktown is a high traffic area with many cars, cyclists and pedestrians. Further, there are no traffic control devices at the intersection with Worchester. The intersection there is uncontrolled, with an unmarked crosswalk. Wrongful death lawyer Edmond El Dabe states “Drivers should always slow down in areas where streets intersect and there are no traffic controls.”
