San Bernardino Pedestrian, Rudolph Zamarano, Killed While Crossing Street

RIALTO (July 6, 2014) – Pedestrian Rudolph Zamarano was struck fatally by a car early Sunday while attempting to cross the street.

Zamarano was in the process of crossing Foothill Boulevard in Rialto when a car struck him around 2:00 a.m.  The exact location is cited as the 380 East Foothill Boulevard in front of the El Toro Grill located between Sycamore Avenue and Acacia Avenue.  The 48 year old died immediately from the impact.

The driver of the car that struck Zamarano remained at the scene.  The vehicle was identified as a Toyota 4Runner and was westbound on Foothill Boulevard at the time.  Further investigation will determine if alcohol played a role in this accident.  According to some reports, Zamarano was not in a crosswalk at the time although pedestrians do have the right of way even in unmarked crosswalks according to California law.  Witnesses should contact the Rialto Police Department at (909) 820-2578.
