POMONA (July 19, 2014) – A bicyclist has died and driver arrested after a car and bike collided in Pomona on Saturday.
The collision occurred at 2:30 a.m. on Garey Avenue near the Philadelphia Street intersection. A man driving a 2011 white BMW struck a bicyclist who was on the right side of the street, from behind. The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. The victim was only identified as a man in his 40′s or 50′s.
The driver was identified as 25 year old Chino Hills resident, Rick Kyujin Lee. He was arrested and held on $100,000 bail at the Pomona police station, charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. According to witnesses, the driver’s parents showed up at the site of the accident and told officers the driver was under the influence.
