Rear End Collision in Anaheim Kills Driver, Mathew Hughes

ANAHEIM (May 18, 2014) – A rear end collision in Anaheim claimed the life of driver Mathew Hughes in the early hours of Sunday.

Hughes was driving a black Volkswagen sedan headed eastbound on the 91 Freeway at the time of the accident.  He was rear-ended by a Ford F-150 truck west of the Weir Canyon Road around 3:35 a.m.  Hughes was declared dead at the scene from the impact.  The Corona resident was 29 years old.

The identity of the driver of the truck which struck Hughes has not been released although officials say he was a 45 year old male driver.  According to some reports, Hughes’ sedan was stopped in one of the middle lanes when it was rear-ended.  An investigation is ongoing into what exactly happened.  Officers will look into identifying the cause and who can be held liable for Hughes’ wrongful death.  Any witnesses should immediately contact the California Highway Patrol Santa Ana Division at (714) 567-6000.

Our condolences to the family of Mathew Hughes.
