The car which rear ended the Escort was a 1995 Chevy Silverado.  Its driver and passenger immediately fled on foot.  Witnesses should contact the California Highway Patrol.  Fleeing the scene of an accident is illegal and considered a hit and run.  In the cases of a serious or fatal injury such as this, the act of leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid can be charged as a felony.  Hopefully police will track down the owner and  the driver of the car that rear-ended Gloria Diaz.

The family was traveling on Interstate 15 close to 3:00 a.m., 30 miles south of Mesquite.  Soriano, only 18, slammed the back of the Chevy Astro van the family was riding in with his 1999 Dodge Durango SUV.  The 2002 Astro spun, overturned and five of the seven family members were ejected from the car.

The five people who were tragically killed have not been identified but are known to be from Los Angeles.  Four of the five killed were not wearing seat belts.  They included a father and his teenage daughter, an aunt and two uncles.  A 40 year old mother and teenage son who were also in the Astro were taken to a University Medical Center with critical injuries.  The mother, who had her seat belt on, was driving the Chevy Astro.

Nevada Highway Patrol found beer bottles on the floor of the Durango.  Soriano and his 23 year old male passenger were not harmed even though their car overturned as well.  Investigators stated that Soriano was visiting family in Utah and was on his way back to California.

Soriano was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Clark County Detention Center.  He will be found liable for the wrongful deaths of all five members of this family.  Such a completely tragic accident.  Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those whose lives were unfairly shortened.

Thomas Milton Turner Wrongful Death Accident in San Bernardino

San Bernardino – Friday evening, at about 8pm,  a traffic collision occurred on Summit Valley Road, near Telephone Canyon Road in San Bernardino in the Hesperia area.  There was one fatality.

Sheriffs arrived to find a collision had occurred between a Ford F250 pick up and a Toyota Tacoma. Their investigation yielded the following:  A Toyota Tacoma traveling north on Summit Valley Road struck Thomas Milton Turner, who was standing outside his Ford F250, also a pick up truck.  Thereafter, both vehicles fell down an embankment, over the side of the road.  Paramedics pronounced Turner dead at the scene.  The collision is still being investigated by the police.

This is a tragic accident and our prayers are with the Turner family.  This type of accident could be avoided if drivers take more care when driving.  Do not drive if you are tired, or if you have consumed alcohol.  If you absolutely must pull over on the side of the road, make sure to give lots of clearance to passing cars, and pull off to a side road that is not busy whenever possible.
