Pedestrian Ruby May Hixson Dies in Manhattan Beach Accident vs Motorcycle

MANHATTAN BEACH (August 20, 2013) – Pedestrian Ruby May Hixson died on Tuesday after being struck by a motorcyclist.  The accident happened early in the morning before 6:00 a.m. at the Sepulveda Boulevard near the 8th Street intersection.  Ruby May Hixson of Manhattan Beach was declared dead from the impact at the scene.  She was 87 years old.

The motorcycle driver was also killed from the impact.  He was identified as 41 year old Torrance resident, Daniel Matthew Lindeman.

Sepulveda Boulevard was closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence and cleared up the scene.  It is unclear what happened or if alcohol or drugs were involved.  Even if a pedestrian is not in a marked crosswalk, drivers should give them the right of way as much as possible as they could be in an unmarked crosswalk.
