Pedestrian Nina Karen Fitzpatrick Dies Days After Being Hit By Car in Laguna Beach

LAGUNA BEACH (April 9, 2014) – Nina Karen Fitzpatrick died of injuries suffered during a Thursday night car accident.

Fitzpatrick was walking in a crosswalk on Laguna Canyon Road near the art school she was attending when she was struck by a vehicle.  She was rushed to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo where she was unable to survive her injuries and died days later.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Fitzpatrick was identified as an 83 year old Minnesota woman.  She was not cited or arrested.  Early reports indicate that she did not see Fitzpatrick in the crosswalk.

Nina Karen Fitzpatrick was a resident of Costa Mesa.  The 22 year old attended the Laguna College of Art and Design.  A candlelight vigil will be held for Fitzpatrick on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. on the college’s main campus at 2222 Laguna Canyon Rd.  The campus’ grassy knoll was renamed as Nina’s Park in her honor.
