Pedestrian Fernanda Villela Castaneda Struck Fatally by Car in Moreno Valley Accident

MORENO VALLEY (January 31, 2015) – Fernanda Villela Castaneda was fatally struck by a car in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to reports, Castaneda was walking along the 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley.  She was westbound, just east of the Day Street off-ramp when she was struck by a car around 4:13 a.m..  She died at the scene from the injuries she sustained.  The Moreno Valley resident was 70 years old.

It is unclear why Castaneda was walking along the freeway.  The driver of the car that struck her, a 2004 Nissan Maxima, remained at the scene.  Any witnesses should immediately contact the California Highway Patrol, Riverside office at (951) 637-8000.
