Santa Ana – Pedestrian Dinh Evans was killed on Sunday night as she was crossing the street.
The accident happened in the 2700 block of W. 1st Street at around 8:40 p.m. Evans, who was 79 years old, was struck by a Toyota Corolla as she was crossing the street. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police, Evans was not in a marked crosswalk at the time and therefore not visible to the driver.
Even though it is best practice to always use marked crosswalks, drivers should always be aware of pedestrians whether or not they are in a crosswalk. Our condolences go out to the Evans family on their loss.
