The accident happened minutes after 6:00 p.m. in the 1500 block of Beach Boulevard, north of McFadden Avenue.  The intersection where the accident happened is a busy intersection.  According to witnesses, the bus had just dropped off passengers and was moving forward when Dang, who was on the sidewalk fell back into the street.  The bus driver failed to see Dang and struck him fatally.   Paramedics rushed Dang to University of Irvine Medical Center in Orange but he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Dang, a resident of Anaheim, had recently celebrated his 45th birthday.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.  If the bus driver is found negligent, Dang’s family will be able to sue the driver of the bus and the OCTA in the wrongful death of Chau Dang.  OCTA buses are equipped with video surveillance equipment which may have caught the accident on tape.  The recordings must immediately be downloaded and preserved, as they are crucial evidence in the reconstruction of the event.
