Costa Mesa (August 4, 2013) – Motorcyclist Chad Delorm of Huntington Beach was involved in an accident with a car on Sunday that took his life. The collision happened on Royal Palm Drive near Adams Avenue close to 4:00 p.m. Delorm was eastbound on Adams Avenue when a Honda Civic turned left in front of him. Delorm struck the Civic on the passenger side. He was not able to survive the force of the impact and died at the scene. Delorm was a resident of Huntington Beach, he was 40 years old.
The identity of the driver of the Civic has not been released. Officials only identified the driver as a 62 year old woman. The driver stayed at the scene to be questioned but was not arrested. The investigating police officers do not believe alcohol played a role in the collision.
Other witnesses were also questioned.
If the driver is found to be at fault, Delorm’s family will be able to hold the driver and her insurance liable for his wrongful death, which will include economic and non-economic damages. Motorcycle accidents are common in Huntington Beach, where many drivers of cars and trucks fail to see motorcyclists, who by their very nature, have a lower profile. Drivers should remember to always drive carefully and that there is no reason to rush while on the road.
