RIVERSIDE (July 13, 2013) – Michael Manuel, a resident of Riverside, was was killed yesterday in Riverside in an auto vs pedestrian accident. Michael Manuel, 43 years old at the time of his death, was struck by a pick up truck. It is not clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident and the Riverside Police Department officers are still investigating.
The accident happened at about 2:30 a.m. near 5894 Crest Avenue close to the intersection of Cypress in Riverside. The area is frequently used by pedestrians as there is a bus stop at that location. It is not clear whether buses were running at that time.

Michael Manuel was walking south along a sidewalk on Crest when he was struck by the pick up truck, identified by police as a 1995 Mitsubishi. The driver of the pick up truck, Joel Guzman-Mena, 18, was arrested and booked for gross vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving. He posted bail and has been released.
