Riverside – Two people were killed and two injured on Friday while waiting at a bus stop.
The accident happened on Friday at 1:00 p.m. A driver identified as a 45 year old Riverside resident lost control of his red sedan and collided into bus stop as people were waiting for their bus. The site of the accident was a busy retail intersection of Tyler Street and Magnolia Avenue.
Two people unrelated to each other were pronounced dead. Melissa Bernal who was 28 years old and Aniya Mitchell who was only 7 years old were the two victims. Two others, a male and female, were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries.
According to investigators, the driver who struck the bus stop did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol although an investigation is ongoing. Our condolences go out to the families of Aniya Mitchell and Melissa Bernal in their untimely deaths.
