Huntington Beach Bicycle Vs Car Leaves Katherine Sieberhein with Fatal Injuries

HUNTINGTON BEACH (April 16, 2014) – Bicyclist Katherine Sieberhein was left with fatal injuries after being struck by a car in Huntington Beach on Wednesday.

Katherine SiberheinThe accident happened at 6:15 p.m. on Adams Avenue and Ranger Lane.  Sieberhein was westbound on Adams Avenue when a 2001 Chevy Silverado pick-up, also westbound on Adams, struck her.  She was rushed to Santa Ana’s Western Medical Center where she died of her injuries minutes after midnight.  Katherine Siberhein was 44 years old, a resident of Costa Mesa.

The driver remained at the scene but was not cited.  He has been identified as 80 year old Fountain Valley resident Brian Chattaway.  An investigation is ongoing and witnesses should contact the Huntington Beach Police Department (714) 960-8843.

The intersection is a three way intersection controlled by lights set in a residential neighborhood.  Drivers and bicycle riders share the road and if it turns out that Chattaway was at fault, he could be sued for the wrongful death of Katherine Sieberhein.
