HEMET (January 13, 2014) – Homeland resident Chris Rafferty died early Monday evening after being struck by a car.
The accident happened at 6:25 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of Highway 74, west of Juniper Flats, in an area known as Homeland. Rafferty was attempting to cross the road when he was struck fatally by a small sedan. Chris Rafferty was pronounced dead at the scene. The Homeland resident was 51 years old.
Pedestrians have the right of way whether in marked or unmarked crosswalks. Drivers should yield to crossing pedestrians whenever possible.
