PALMDALE (October 28, 2013) – Sixteen year old Elvia Alvarez was fatally struck by a car in a tragic accident Monday night in Palmdale. The accident happened near 30th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard around 10:00 p.m. Alvarez was in the process of saying goodbye to a friend, turned to cross the street then was suddenly struck by a Ford Flex. A nearby, off-duty nurse ran to help Elvia Alvarez but she was unsuccessful. Elvia Alvarez was unable to survive the impact.
The driver remained at the scene. According to witnesses, he was devastated. Witnesses should contact the Palmdale Sheriff Department at (661) 272-2400.

Drivers bear a responsibility to watch out for and yield to pedestrians. The driver may be held liable in the wrongful death of Elvia Alvarez and her family will have the right to sue the driver and his insurance company for damages.
