Buena Park Police Car Strikes and Kills Female Pedestrian Katherine Tinnell

BUENA PARK (October 5, 2013) – A female pedestrian was fatally wounded when she was hit by a police car in the city of Buena Park.  The accident happened at 1:06 a.m. in the 8100 block of Orangethorpe Avenue between Oregon Street and Stanton Avenue.  It was reported that the police cruiser was a marked K9 unit belonging to the Buena Park Police Department.

The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene from the blunt force trauma.  Her name has not been released.

California Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation.

UPDATE:  The victim has been identified as 33 year old Katherine Tinnell.
