Bicyclist Daniel Martinez Meza Struck and Killed By Car in Oxnard

OXNARD (October 21, 2013) – Daniel Martinez Meza died on Monday morning after being fatally struck by a car while riding a bicycle.  The accident happened at 8:00 a.m.  Meza was northbound on Rose Avenue when he was struck by a car which made a quick lane change in order to enter the freeway on-ramp.  Bicyclist Daniel Martinez Meza suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by local paramedics.  The Oxnard resident was 45 years old.

The driver that struck Meza has been identified as 20 year old Pablo Tellez Chavez of Oxnard.  He was uninjured.

An investigation is underway and witnesses should contact the Ventura County Sherriff’s office at (805) 582-8015.
