19 Year Old Pedestrian, Phillip Stapleton Struck Fatally by Car in Fullerton

FULLERTON (March 29, 2014) – Pedestrian Phillip Stapleton was struck by a car and fatally injured on Saturday afternoon.

Stapleton was hit on by a car at the four way intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Valencia Drive at around 2:45 p.m.  Paramedics rushed to the scene but declared him dead from his injuries soon after getting there.  Stapleton was 19 years old, a resident of Buena Park.

The driver of the car which struck Stapleton was identified as a man in his 40′s.  He was driving a pickup truck.

According to early reports, Stapleton was in a crosswalk at the time he was hit although some witnesses say he was crossing while a no crossing sign was flashing.  Authorities will conduct an investigation as to what actually happened and who was at fault.  Even if Stapleton was in the wrong, the driver could also be liable to a certain degree.  The family of Phillip Stapleton may still have the right to pursue the driver and his insurance for the wrongful death of their son.  Witnesses should contact the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-6800 immediately.

    Phillip was a great kid. I am going to miss him. I was dhocked by what i heard and i wish i knew details of how he was able to get that far from his home.
